Make 13–15 November your getaway window: arrive Friday, enjoy the festival Saturday and leave Sunday free for exploring other local attractions like the nearby National Parks.

This festival is a highlight on the annual calendar and worth experiencing at least once.

December 2026: Start the school holidays in country style

Queensland state school summer holidays kick off on Saturday 12 December. If you’re visiting from interstate, check your own school calendar before locking in travel dates.

That first weekend (12 and 13 December) is a great early chance to go strawberry picking, as long as the farm is open and conditions are good.

Christmas Day falls on a Friday this year, and because Boxing Day lands on a Saturday, there’s an extra public holiday on Monday 28 December. Opening hours can change around this time, so double-check before you plan your itinerary.

Book a campsite or family-size cabin and enjoy a relaxed Christmas away from home.

January 2027: Show month in Stanthorpe

New Year’s Day lands on a Friday, so you’ve got another long weekend to start the year. Queensland school holidays then run right through to Tuesday 26 January.

Just after that, the Stanthorpe Show rolls into town from 29 to 31 January, bringing around 6,000 people through the gates. Expect agricultural exhibits, competitions, good food and plenty of entertainment. Keep in mind it falls after the school holidays end, so factor in school commitments before you book.
