1. Go on hiking adventures in Girraween National Park

Located quite close to our holiday park is Girraween National Park. The park boasts many popular walking trails and you could easily spend an entire day exploring the region. With 17km of walking tracks, there are trails to suit every fitness level. For instance, you can take a leisurely 280m stroll to Bald Rock Creek, or challenge yourself to the 11km return walk to Mount Norman. Get some exercise while taking in the scenery.

2. Quaff your way through the best wineries in Stanthorpe

You could spend days enjoying wine tasting around Stanthorpe, as the region is home to so many great wineries. Visit Queensland’s oldest family-owned and operated winery, Ballandean Estate. This winery has been producing a fine drop since 1932. Golden Grove Estate is another award-winning winery, producing classic Shiraz and Chardonnay. These are just two of more than a dozen fantastic wineries around Stanthorpe.

3. Stroll through Quart Pot Creek

Quart Pot Creek meanders through some stunning countryside before flowing through Stanthorpe itself. It’s an awesome place to take a relaxing stroll, following the creek as it idles its way toward town. To make a day of it, pack a picnic lunch. There are many great locations to relax, chill and enjoy refreshments along the creek’s banks before continuing your journey back into town.

4. Sample local produce at Stanthorpe’s Farmers Markets

There are two cool farmer’s markets you can enjoy in Stanthorpe. One is the Granite Belt Farmer’s Market and the second is the Market in the Mountains. Both offer a colourful array of fresh produce grown locally by Stanthorpe farmers. Stock up on fruit and vegetables, or sample the wares of local vendors. There are also loads of activities to keep the little ones entertained. The Stanthorpe Market also hosts local artists and crafters selling their handcrafted wares.

5. Explore art galleries and craft studios in the Granite Belt

The Granite Belt region has some fantastic craft studios and art galleries. A popular spot is the Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery, where you can feast your eyes on vibrant paintings, beautiful textiles and exquisite ceramics. The Stanthorpe Pottery Club is a fun place to get your hands dirty while mastering the art of pottery making. You can even join the Granite Belt Art & Craft Trail for a guided tour of all the best galleries and studios.

6. Indulge at Sutton’s Juice Factory and Cidery

Located just to the side of the New England Highway is Sutton’s Juice Factory and Cidery. It’s open seven days a week and it’s a place where you’ll enjoy all sorts of juices and delicacies made with our beautiful locally grown apples. Take home some Apple Brandy, Apple Cider Vinegar, Fruit Liqueurs, and tasty jams. The establishment also has a cafe, where you can tantalise your tastebuds with homemade scones, cheese toasties and, of course, some delicious apple pie.

7. Visit historic sites and museums in Stanthorpe

The Stanthorpe Heritage Museum is a place you must visit while you’re in town. There are 14 buildings housing more than 20,000 cool artefacts. Some subjects include Aboriginal artefacts, historical military pieces, remnants from the tin mining era, and much more.

The Thulimbah Historic Railway Siding is another point of interest for anyone wanting to immerse themselves in the area’s history. Take your camera as this quaint historic railway is a photographer’s dream, with its rustic charm and beauty.

8. Visit the Stanthorpe Cheese Shop

Stanthorpe Cheese produces award-winning farmhouse cheeses that pair perfectly with any wine you purchase on a wine tasting tour. Some popular cheeses you will enjoy include the Stanthorpe Pepper Cheese, Granite Gold, The Outlaw Cheese, and Snowflake. While you’re there, relax and have snacks and beverages in the Jersey Girls Cafe. Indulge in the hearty Ploughman’s Lunch, or or pies and sausage rolls made in the local bakery.

9. Slake your thirst at the Brass Monkey Brewery

If you want to sample a variety of handcrafted boutique beers, then a visit to the Brass Monkey Brewery is a must. With fresh beer on tap, enjoy a few drinks in the bar, or take a few bottles home with you. If all that beer is making you feel peckish, the brewery has a delicious food menu and serves up some of the best pizza in the region.

10. Attend local festivals

The Stanthorpe region hosts some great festivals throughout the year. For example, the Apple & Grape Harvest Festival is a popular event every February and March and boasts loads of entertainment that’s fun for the entire family. There is even an apple pie baking contest and an apple peeling competition.

Another fun festival is the Stanthorpe Berry Festival. This festival launches every November and takes place at the local showgrounds. There is live music, cooking demonstrations, boutique stalls you can explore, and plenty to entertain people of all ages.
